In “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” John Wick does not have a dog companion as a central character in the film. After the events of the previous movies, where John’s beloved dog Daisy was killed and he briefly encountered a new dog, the focus of the story shifts to other aspects of John Wick’s world.
However, it’s worth mentioning that dogs do make appearances in “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.” Throughout the movie, there are various scenes featuring dogs, particularly at the Continental Hotel, a sanctuary for assassins. These dogs serve as a part of the hotel’s aesthetic and security measures.
When John Wick was excommunicated by the High Table, he asked the taxi driver to drop his dog at Hotel Continental
Although John Wick’s connection with dogs remains an important part of his backstory and the first film, “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” explores other elements of his life and the intense action that unfolds as he becomes a target for the world of assassins.
When John & Sofia refused to surrender her loyal friends to the whims of the High Table, Sofia, and John Wick embark on a daring mission to defy the orders imposed upon them.
As the story unfolds, John Wick finds himself excommunicated from the secret society of assassins, known as the High Table. With a hefty bounty placed on his head, he becomes a target for every assassin seeking to claim the reward. In his quest for survival and redemption, John seeks assistance from an old ally, Sofia, portrayed by the talented Halle Berry.
In their encounter, Sofia’s loyal canine companions play an integral role. These highly trained dogs, Belgian Malinois, demonstrate remarkable skills and discipline, showcasing the unique bond between Sofia and her four-legged partners. They are not merely pets but vital assets in her line of work.
The High Table, recognizing the value and effectiveness of these specialized dogs, demands their presence as a show of submission and power. This demand emphasizes the significance of the canine companions within the assassin world, highlighting their role as valuable assets and symbols of authority.
However, Sofia’s attachment to her dogs runs deep. They are not mere instruments for her trade but cherished companions and allies. Refusing to surrender her loyal friends to the whims of the High Table, Sofia, and John Wick embark on a daring mission to defy the orders imposed upon them.
This sequence showcases the unique relationship between humans and dogs, transcending the conventional boundaries of loyalty and companionship. It underscores the unwavering dedication and fierce protectiveness that exist between individuals and their beloved canines, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
Throughout the scene, the dogs’ exceptional training and teamwork are on full display, highlighting their intelligence, agility, and unwavering loyalty to their human counterparts. Their presence not only enhances the action sequences but also deepens the emotional connection between the characters and the audience.
In “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” the demand for dogs by the High Table and the subsequent defiance of Sofia and John Wick reflect the underlying theme of resilience, rebellion, and the indomitable spirit of those who refuse to bow to authority. It serves as a powerful reminder of the bond between humans and dogs, showcasing the extraordinary lengths individuals will go to protect and honor their faithful companions.
