7 Things I Observed in My German Shepherd Dog During his Growing Journey

Hey Dog Lovers,

Being a Proud owner of my German Shepherd Baby (always a baby to me), I always feel blessed to have such an adorable dog.

Meet Jemmy, He was 30 days old when he became a member of my family, 

First Month,  ( I don’t love pets, Just to fulfill my Son’s Wish)

In India, January ( Cold Season)

Introducing Jemmy

As he was immature & too young to feed, He used to share my bed & blanket while sleeping throughout the month, Besides him, We are 6 members in our family, Mom, Dad, My Wife & Twins, I adopted him as my Son desperately needed a cute puppy, 

I didn’t have experience caring for pets at all, just got some basic information on youtube, & channels initially. We didn’t hire a Dog trainer during that time, I thought the collected information was enough to do that job.

Jemmy, Who is now an un-accepted member of our family, Everyone is used to staring at me when he pees anywhere in the house, and although we have a big farm, I could not take him due to his young age,  My father used to say that take him to the farmhouse for safeguard, he’s not suited to the home.

As time flew, he succeeded in planting affection in me & my wifey, Now Jemmy has 2 owners… Proud Owners.

But preferably he used to wander near my wifey, who is his momma. We have 3 kids in our house now.

We easily managed Pees & shits until he started climbing sofas & pees, now it’s a big problem,

Now I again surfed the channels & watched training videos on how to get pee your dog outside.

But it’s a german Shepherd, He knows what we commanding him, and he understands but it’s up to his will whether he follows it or not,

Being a GSD Owner, I observed a few things in him which I am sharing with you all,

1. Once he keeps sleeping with you & stays with you, You can’t dare to leave him alone, even if you can’t leave him alone
2. When he gets his favorite food, Doesn’t matter who you are, he takes out his teeth & starts growling continuously if you even take your hand closer to his bowl. (being a newbie, I often get afraid of doing this).
3. He does not stick to one particular food, German Shepherds are choosy & moody, they want something different after a time, they can’t live life in a monotonous way. They want different places, Different food all the time, So it made me a creative guy & now I can try giving me different cousins, which I will mention later on what usually i gave him while feeding. 4. As he grew, after 5 months, he understood the value of the place where he is staying, now he started peeing & shitting outside the house, & honestly, I didn’t teach him to do it, he observed & realized he, No trainers did this.
5. He can cut anything, he wants something to chew, it doesn’t matter if you throw a calcium road, he needs something else to cut which is precious or valuable to you.
6. He always sits at me & my wifey’s feet and might think of the best place to chill.

7. One of the major important things I observed during his growth when you think he is mature enough & obeys your commands, & follow your instruction, he used to violate all of your rules in your absence, keep note of this thing, this could lead to the loss of your many material things, like sofas,  furniture, clothes, laptop chargers, etc,  He stays away from those things which you taught him to stay away, & it excites him to check it out when you are not there, this is for sure.  

And there are many more, but one more important thing I would like to highlight here, i.e.

GSD Seeking attention, I observed, Usually he sits calmly when no one is in the house, and he hardly bothers to get any attention during that time, but suddenly when I sit with my buddies, he started poking me & making me annoyed with his notorious activities, just because he wants my attention in the crowd.

The major thing is that most dog owners never do. Keep your Dog set free always until there are some urgent or important issues, they will freely grow & develop & think like us, which makes them different from other pets, although it has some pros & cons of setting free your dog. 

So I suggest being mentally prepared when you are going to adopt a german shepherd, they need personal attention, and they think like humans as I felt.

And be ready for what I mentioned, this is all or more than what you gonna experience during the whole sojourn.
